BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University baseball team bested the Jaspers of Manhattan College on Friday evening by a final score of 14-2. The Runnin' Bulldogs racked up the runs on nine hits to win the game in seven innings.
Gardner-Webb got on the board in the second inning thanks to a
Tommy Tavarez single and
Alec Burns double to get out to a 3-0 lead. Burns went on to score on a wild pitch in the foruth inning, which was followed by a
Lawson Knight single to bring home
Humberto Torres. The Jaspers tallied their only two in the fifth inning on a homerun. Gardner-Webb went on to score two more in the fifth, and six more in the sixth prior to the end of the game in the seventh inning.
Gardner-Webb will continue their four home game series against Manhattan on Saturday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m.
