Runnin' Bulldogs Wrap Up Non-Conference Play at Wake Forest on Monday Afternoon

| By:
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team is back on the road on Monday afternoon, taking on Wake Forest in its final non-conference match-up of the 2025-26 season

GAME INFORMATION
Game 14: Gardner-Webb (3-10) at Wake Forest (10-3)
Location: LJVM Coliseum - Winston Salem, N.C.
Stream: ESPN Plus/ACC Network Extra
Tip-Off: 1:00 pm
Series History: Wake leads 2-0
Previous Meeting: 2024 - Wake Forest 73, Gardner-Webb 52

THE MATCH-UP: On Monday afternoon, the Runnin' Bulldogs and Demon Deacons meet for just the third time ever. Wake Forest won the previous two match-ups, including 73-52 last December in Winston-Salem.  GWU is in search of its ever second win over a current ACC school in its 17th try, famously opening the season with a win at then No. 20 North Carolina, 66-65 in 2015

WELCOME BACK: Junior guard Anaya Harris returned to the floor last Saturday against Western Carolina for her first action of the 2025-26 season. Harris returned in a big way en route to a Big South Player of The Week nomination, scoring 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, 2-of-4 from three, along with two assists, two steals and two rebounds in a 77-62 win for the Dawgs

STAR FRESHMAN: Though she had been posting solid numbers through the first two months of the season, freshman guard Makayla Legette really broke out in the win over Western Carolina. The Latta, S.C. native scored 16 points on a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from three, while nearly recording a triple-double with nine rebounds and nine assists. Legette's big game earned her first Big South Freshman of The Week award honor

PRESS TO RUN: The strength of the Runnin' Bulldogs team so far in 2025-26 has been defense. In three wins, Gardner-Webb is allowing only 51 points per game, including a season-low 35 in a win over Hampton on November 16th where the Pirates shot 21.2% for the game and 14.% from three. GWU also ranks fifth in the Big South Conference in total steals with 128, good for an average of 9.85 per game

SCOUTING THE DEACS: Under fourth year head coach Morgan Gebbia, Wake Forest is off to one of its best starts in program history. The Demon Deacons went just 7-25 and 9-20 the last two seasons, but have already won 10 games so far in 2025-26. The strength of Wake Forest has been its defense, where the Demon Deacons allow the ACC's third-lowest points per game at 54.8 and have yet to allow more than 67 in a single game this campaign
