BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Following a successful rookie campaign for the Runnin' Bulldogs, rising sophomore pitcher Colby Putnam will join the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League in his first experience in collegiate summer league baseball.
To join the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL), a player must be recommended by a current collegiate coach who believes the athlete has the skills to compete at an elite prospect level. The league exclusively features top-tier NCAA Division I and a few Division II/III players, and acts as a premier showcase for the MLB Draft.
Putnam made his collegiate debut with the Runnin' Bulldogs while putting together a solid season out of the bullpen. The local talent, Putnam finished the year with a 5-2 overall record to go with one save. He also led the team with a 4.94 earned run average, keeping batters at a .262 average for the year. Putnam compiled 40 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched. His best game of the season came at Radford, tossing 6.0 innings while not allowing an earned run.
