Biography

Chase Harp is in his second year as offensive line coach atGardner-Webb University, and has a deeper group of linemen to workwith heading into this season.

Harp's 2007 unit included a pair of All-Conference players inDemario Deese and Ivan Anderson, with Deese returning for hissenior campaign in 2008.

A former tight end at the University of Kentucky, Harp spent twoseasons as an offensive graduate assistant with his alma materbefore coming to GWU. Harp assisted with coaching theWildcats’ offensive line and tight ends, helping UK to an 8-5mark in 2006 and a win over Clemson in the Music City Bowl.Kentucky’s offense ranked No. 9 nationally in passing yardageper game in 2006, and ranked No. 11 in the nation in passingefficiency. Kentucky’s eight wins gave the Wildcats’one of the BCS’ biggest turnarounds from the season before,ranking in a tie for sixth nationally.

Several players who worked with Harp earned honors from the SEC,including Wildcats’ tight end Jacob Tamme ? who earnedconsensus first-team All-SEC honors in 2006 after leading theleague’s tight ends with 28 catches. Offensive linemanMichael Aitcheson was an All-SEC selection by the league’scoaches and lineman Justin Jeffries earned a spot on theSEC’s All-Freshman Team.

In addition to his on-field duties at Kentucky, Harp assisted withanalyzing opponent film, preparing scouting reports, conductingself scouts of UK tendencies, overseeing the offensive scout team,and assisting with on-campus recruiting.

Harp played tight end at Kentucky from 1998-2002, catching 45career passes for 483 yards and five touchdowns in 32 games. Notjust a solid receiver, Harp also developed a reputation as a goodblocker and special teams performer.

Harp holds two degrees from the University of Kentucky, graduatingwith undergraduate and master’s degrees in Kinesiology. Priorto his graduate assistantship at Kentucky, Harp spent the 2004season working at Syracuse University as an administrative graduateassistant. The Orange tied the for the Big East Conference titleand played in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando that season.

He played quarterback at Danville (Ky.) High under his father, SamHarp, before heading to the University of Kentucky.
