BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Less than 48 hours after a win over Eastern Kentucky, the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw against the Marshall Thundering Herd.
The game was called after 103 minutes of action due to inclement weather in Boiling Springs.
"We gave up an early goal, which was very disappointing," said head coach
Mike Varga. "They girls deserve a lot of credit because they kept battling and did not fold after that. I thought we stepped up and played really well in the second half. I hated to see us give up a late goal, but we'll move forward and get ready for Big South play."
Marshall (3-3-2) converted early in the opening period as Marah Abu-Tayeh scored less than five minutes into the contest. Â Abu-Tayeh ran down the center of the field, moved to her left and snuck a shot past

The Thundering Herd controlled the pace after taking the lead, attempting three shots and a corner kick, but the momentum changed in the 30
th minute in favor of Gardner-Webb.
