Runnin’ Bulldogs tally five runs on 11 hits in loss to the Spartans
The Spartans led the ballgame 4-0 entering the fourth inning. Gardner-Webb began to chip away at the lead with Peter Capobianco, Mark Black, and Ethan Liao bringing home a trio of GWU runs. Upstate homered to go up 5-3 before Tommy Tavarez answered with a two-run bomb in the fifth to tie the game at five. The Spartans ultimately tallied three more runs late via small ball to win the game 8-5.
Gardner-Webb will complete their three-game series with the Spartans on Sunday, March 17 at 1:00 p.m.
