CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Per release from the league office, freshman guard Makayla Legette of the Gardner-Webb women's basketball team has been named Big South Freshman of The Week following a dazzling performance in a Runnin' Bulldogs win over Western Carolina
Legette nearly finished with a triple-double, posting career highs of 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in Gardner-Webb's 77-62 win over Western Carolina on Saturday. The Latta, S.C. native was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from 3-point range in 35 minutes. The freshman scored eight points in each half, while eight of her nine rebounds came on the defensive glass. Legette surpassed her previous career highs by six points, four rebounds and four assists in the victory
